History/Milestones
1994
- Created by the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences (UAMS) to offer managed health care services to residents of Arkansas.
- Begins operations in November, serving 10,000 members of UAMS.
1995
- Adds remainder of University's membership along with members from the state employee benefit plan.
- Total membership grows to 40,000.
1996
- QCA Health Plan, Inc., a for-profit affiliate, formed to provide managed care programs to employers in the state.
- Products include HMO, Dual Choice Point of Service and Triple Option Point of Service.
1998 - 2000
- Invests in more cost-effective business practices, workflow redesign and new risk management protocol.
2001
- Sees return on investment in new technologies and operations.
2002
- Reports total revenue of $92.6 million and a net income of $2 million on a statutory basis while still offering competitive rate plans for members.
2003
- Offers first consumer directed health plans to members.
2004
- Develops CAP (Chamber Allience Program) with North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce to provide small and medium size businesses with quality health insurance options.
2005
- Offers high-deductible health plans to complement health savings account functions.
- Expands network in Northwest Arkansas.
- Launches new Web site.
